Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya , Indore (formerly University of Indore) was established in 1964 by an Act of Legislature of Madhya Pradesh. The University is supported by both the State Government and the University Grant Commission, New Delhi. The University has been incorporated in the Commonwealth Year Book (Volume 3,pp1740-42, 1990).
The University has twenty five University Teaching Departments imparting education in front line areas of Business Management, Computers, IT, Engineering, life Sciences, Social Sciences Education, Physical Education and etc. The teaching programs conducted in the University Teaching Departments have a multi disciplinary approach.The faculty is well qualiﬁed and the infrastructure is constantly upgraded.
The University has an Audiovisual Research Center for making educational teleﬁlms for UGC CEC Countrywide Classroom Program and training/educational video material functioning since 1991.
The University has a well equipped Department of Physical Education, Sports Center, Play Ground, Gymnasium etc. to bring out the sporting talent of the students. It has a separate body named as U.T.D. Sports Association, which is conducting the sports events for U.T.D. students and under the banner of U.T.D. Sports Association.
